Abstract: 

Summative OSCE used to evaluate 3rd year medical students' knowledge of geriatric assessment. Students are required to evaluate a geriatric standardized patient with cognitive impairment and history of a fall.

Educational objectives: 
  1. Assess the functional ability of the older adult during a focused office visit
  2. Demonstrate understanding of why a focus on function is important
  3. Demonstrate the components of a geriatric functional assessment
  4. Demonstrate use of assessment tools
  5. Develop strategies to integrate a geriatric assessment into a short visit
  6. Demonstrate skills to enhance communication with older patients
