Abstract: 

This module is a case based problem learning module targeted at 2nd year medical school students.  The anemia & myelodysplastic disorder cases are presented in a classroom format, where students respond to questions on the slides using the I-Clicker.  The I-Clicker is an audience response system which allows students to instantly provide feedback and answer questions posed by their instructor.  Faculty can discuss correct answers as well as provide explanations of the incorrect answers.

Students will be able to:

  • Describe the components of the CBC and discuss normal vs. abnormal values for anemia and myelodysplastic.
  • Define and evaluate disorders of the hematopoietic system.
  • Discuss the management of disorders of the hematopoietic system.
