Abstract: 

This is a structured clinical evaluation exercise (mini-CEX) that is designed to be used with any level of learner. The purpose is to observe how well the learner administers and scores the Mini Mental State Exam.

Educational objectives: 

The object is to give structured feedback on the learner's administration of a Mini-Mental State Exam. It is intended to be used as a formative evaluation tool.

Additional information/Special implementation requirements or guidelines: 

This Mini Mental State Exam CEX is to be used with the MMSE©. The MMSE can be purchased from PAR, Inc. by calling (813) 968-3003 or from http://www.minimental.com/ . PAR also has scoring rubrics and guidelines for the MMSE.

The mini-CEX focuses on important aspects of a tool that is often not used correctly. Easy to use and duplicate in different settings.
