Abstract:
An interactive session on older patients' perception of younger physicians, as well as a discussion of visual and hearing impairments in older adults.
Educational objectives:
Learners should:
- Develop an understanding of the demography of aging and its implications for health care.
- Develop an awareness of the physical, psychological and social changes that occur with aging and its implications to the older adults' quality of life.
- Gain familiarity with changes in vision and hearing found in older adults and recognize that some age-associated changes are due the aging process, some to life habits, and others to disease.
- Develop an awareness of differences between the learners' and the elders' perception of themselves, their environments, and the interaction between them.

An Unfair Hearing Test is a great device for teaching my ObGyn residents about age-related changes in hearing. It means much more than just reading about the changes.
