IMAGE CASES: Computer Assisted Simulated Encounters

This product consists of 6 interactive cases in a format similar to those used in Board Examinations. As you work through these cases, you will be given information about the correct answers and short didactics on topics relevant to the case. Cases include 2 geropsychiatry, 2 gynecology, one neurology and one outpatient geriatric cases. Each case takes from 10 to 30 minutes to do and contain information that advanced medical students through attending physicians will find interesting and educational.
These cases will give the learner training in caring for older patients with selected gynecology abnormalities, dementia, depression, bipolar disease, and elder abuse. The cases also focus on care giving as a goal-oriented approach. After using these cases, learners will be able to: 1. Know their responsibilities in recognizing elder abuse. 2. Know the presentation and work-up of cognitive impairment. 3. Recognize depression and know how to make choices in treatment. 4. Recognize psychotic depression as different than depression and treat appropriately 5. Recognize manic symptoms in the elderly 6. Understand the differential diagnosis of parkinsonism. 7. Recognize the dangers of treatment of parkinsonism from Parkinson's Disease. 8. Understand the basics of Frontal Lobe Dementias. 9. Know the basics of the major gynecological malignancies. 10. Understand the need to establish a goal before embarking on an invasive work-up. 11. Gain a basic understanding of gynecologic dermatology.
