Abstract:

Women's Health module is designed for learners from the medical student on through residency and into clinical practice. It follows a relatively healthy 67 year-old ambulatory older woman through 11 clinical chapters that highlight specific issues, including cancer screening at different ages, osteoporosis, sexuality, and urinary incontinence. Each chapter has a series of multiple choice questions and immediate feedback is given regarding the correct choices. The module is enhanced with visual aids such as examples of bone density studies and x-rays that demonstrate compression fractures.

Educational objectives:

The learner will be able to:

  1. Identify appropriate screenings and healthy living practices for aging women
  2. Discuss, with patients, bone health maintenance and ways to treat bone density problems
  3. Discuss issues of human sexuality for aging women
  4. Discuss commonly found health issues in post-menopausal women
Intended learner audience:

4 - a fun and interactive way to learn about preventive care; highlights the changing needs of an elderly patient and provides guidance through clinical decision making and judgment in a way that both acknowledges the controversy/varying clinical styles but reinforces the presence of and need for guidelines. A nuanced look at this issue for both students and more experienced clinicians. Addresses screening across several age and functional stages, and bone, urogyn, and sexual health for elderly women.

What an excellent review of some of the issues for postmenopausal women! This would be of great use for my OBGyn students and residents. They would enjoy the format. I found it very easy to use and feel that that content is very pertinent.

Very nice learning module. Both fun and instructional. Feedback boxes are excellent.
