Anesthesia for the Elderly is a 3 part series of video lectures created at Boston University School of Medicine. The topics discussed in the three videos are Intra-operative Management of Geriatric Patients, Pain Management in the Geriatric Population and Demographics and Physiology of Aging. The objectives of this series are:
1. Identify the benefits and disadvantages of regional vs general anesthesia.
2. Identify the role of invasive monitors in the geriatric population.
3. Identify some of the concerns related to the administration of common anesthetic drugs during general anesthesia.
4. Become familiar with fluid management, thermoregulation, and positioning concerns for the elderly.
