Newsletter: July 2014
POGOe is growing faster than ever and now has over 20,000 registered users. This massive resource is only as useful and engaging as our users make it. To the contributors, authors, advisors, commenters, students, and general public we extend a huge thank you!
Our staff continuously looks to improve the site to promote geriatrics education. One of our current areas of emphasis is the communication between and among users. Constructive comments on materials help the community as a whole to better understand which materials to use and how to use them. Currently, all comments are anonymous, but soon your POGOe username will be attached to each comment in an effort towards transparency. Seeing a positive comment from a trusted colleague is certainly more reassuring than from 'anonymous'. Please assist in our efforts to build this community by rating and commenting on materials.
The case begins,"Halfway through your general medicine rotation, your resident asks you to go to the Emergency Department to check on Mrs. Davis. She is 85 years old and is being admitted for confusion."
Among other teaching points, this case will educate learners on identifying risk factors for delirium and how to differentiate between delirium and dementia.
All 20 web-GEMs are peer-reviewed, AAMC competency based, and interactive. These are excellent flipped learning teaching tools. Faculty guides and “Takeaway” documents are available for each.
