The goal of this presentation is to provide basic information on Perioperative Care in the elderly patient undergoing surgery. Learners will be able to identify normal pathophysiology that contributes to increased morbidity and mortality from anesthesia and surgery, high-risk surgeries, and common complications from anesthesia and surgery.

This talk has been given in different forms to over 100 individuals in Grand Round settings. Limitations may include a lack of background information on the subject that could make slides more complicated to interpret.
