This PowerPoint presentation on Anesthesiology And The Elderly Patient illustrates issues relevant to aging individuals and their perioperative care. It is suitable for Geriatric, Anesthesia, and Internal Medicine audiences.

Educational objectives: 

The goal of this presentation is to provide basic information on Perioperative Care in the elderly patient undergoing surgery. Learners will be able to identify normal pathophysiology that contributes to increased morbidity and mortality from anesthesia and surgery, high-risk surgeries, and common complications from anesthesia and surgery.

Additional information/Special implementation requirements or guidelines: 

This talk has been given in different forms to over 100 individuals in Grand Round settings. Limitations may include a lack of background information on the subject that could make slides more complicated to interpret.
