Abstract: 

This fact sheet, along with the accompanying pre- and post-test, teaches physicians-in-training about staging, prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers in hospitalized geriatric patients.

Educational objectives: 

Learners will be able to:

  1. Recognize pressure ulcer stages using the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel classification system,
  2. Identify strategies used in the prevention of pressure ulcers, and
  3. Recognize appropriate treatment for pressure ulcers based on current standards of care.
